Cracker Jack I Story
It was 1981 and I loved being a stay at home mother of two small daughters. But, money was always tight and I was constantly looking for a business opportunity.
However, when the MK opportunity was offered to me my answer was a resounding NO! Maybe because my impression of Mary Kay consultants was gray haired, goody, goody, ladies riding around in their bubble-gum pink cars!
I also refused a facial, but did, after 9 months of being asked, accepted an invitation to a MK success meeting only because the consultant said she would take me to lunch! BUT, I still refused to try the products!
Something happened at that meeting however. The women were sharp, having fun and making money! They were nothing like I had thought!
And when the director actually was training on exactly what to say, I thought that even I could learn how to be a consultant! Not only was the director training on what to say, she had beautiful clothes, amazing jewelry and was making what I thought was a staggering amount of money!
That day I accepted a copy of Mary Kay's autobiography, read it in one day and fell in love with the company. Two days later I was a consultant with a qualified order!
My beginning was not very smooth--I didn't think I needed to learn the booking dialogs--30 women said no. I decided I had better go back to square one!
It took me almost two months to hold my first appointment, but then I did 5 parties in two weeks and was off and running!
Mary Kay made me a better mother and wife. One with a new enthusiasm for life, goals and more money for all those things that a growing family needs.
Now, 29 years later, Mary Kay has transformed our lives. Our daughter, Toni Davis Burink is a Senior Sales Director. My husband, Chuck, retired early at 55 thanks in a great part to our Mary Kay business. We now have the TIME to spend with our granddaughters. And three years ago we were able to purchase a vacation home in Mexico that our entire family can enjoy.
Our purpose now is to grow our MK organization to a National Area. My goal for all consultants that we touch is that they will have the fabulous "pink life" that we have found!
